The USD San Antonio De Padua project consisted of converting an old recreational swimming pool and surrounding area into a new 6,500 square foot outdoor patio and study area for the adjacent dormitory.

The project was structured as a design assist. Dempsey Construction was the lead point of contact for the project and was responsible for construction and design assist coordination. Dempsey Construction worked with the OBR Architecture team in delivering the most cost effective product while maximizing the total usable space for the University.

The objective of the patio renovation was to convert an existing, abandoned, and unsafe pool into a multi-use area more conducive to the learning environment. The scope of the project included the demolition of the pool, two existing stairways and CMU walls which limited the flow of traffic throughout the area.

The project took place during school session which limited the already minimal space for construction staging and work area. Dempsey Construction worked diligently with the University and OBR Architecture to deliver the desired product within the project timeline.
