Team Dempsey

In his role in Field Operations, Darrell takes care of the yard, making sure that it’s always safe, he also drives machinery, and assists the Superintendent. Darrell has been with Dempsey Construction for 10 years. Prior to his work at Dempsey, he had an internet business and was a Union Ironworker for 12 years. Darrell is always on the move with a lot of energy, never letting anything stand in his way from doing his job with great integrity and honesty. Most of his spare time is spent with his wife and family, fishing and walking trails.

David Lui joined Dempsey Construction in 2023 as a Project Engineer. Speaking 5 languages and being well-traveled, David has spent time in Papua New Guinea, Colorado, and Hawaii, however, he grew up mainly in Pittsburg in the Bay Area in NorCal and attended Pittsburg High School.  While attending Pittsburg High, David honed his athletic skills and became a collegiate-level Division 1 football player. He graduated with a degree in Civil and Construction Engineering, emphasis in Construction Management from BYU – Provo. In his free time, David enjoys being outdoors, being in the ocean, eating and trying new foods, and spending time with his family.

As a VDC, QA / QC, Warranty Manager at Dempsey, Dave conducts the coordination and scheduling of onsite construction. Dave has 30 plus years in the construction industry working as a carpenter, the head of public works concrete division, a superintendent for commercial and public works projects, a concrete estimator and a PM. Dave’s motivation for his work at Demsey derives from his sense of accomplishment when a project is completed, and to the client’s satisfaction. In his spare time, he enjoys golfing on the weekends and going to the gym when possible.

As a superintendent, Dennis’s role is to give the customer the best project possible upon completion, to turn over completed projects on time and under budget and to help our customers return to us for future projects. Dennis has been with Dempsey Construction for 6 years and has been in the construction industry for over 30 years. Dennis likes taking older properties/projects and breathing new life into them. In his spare time, Dennis coaches girls softball, rides his motorcycle and fishes.

As an Assistant Superintendent at Dempsey, Doug assists superintendents in maintaining project schedules, and running a safe work environment. Doug has worked in commercial, and residential construction for over 20 years. When he’s not working, he enjoys fishing, golfing, and spending time with his family. A quote he lives by is “you do not merely want to be considered the best of the best, you want to be considered the only ones that do what you do” – Jerry Garcia. Doug is inspired by watching the jobs come together from start to finish. Seeing the finished product is the ultimate reward.

As Director of Project Management, Drew oversees all Project Management activities while also maintaining his role as Project Manager on several projects. Drew’s responsibilities include preconstruction estimating and planning, selection and coordination of trade partners, BIM coordination, developing and monitoring project budgets, schedules, and production through the life of a project. Drew has been in the construction industry for over 20 years and has been a Dempsey team member since June 2014. Drew is motivated by being able to huddle around a group of people willing to accomplish something great, then delivering something greater. Drew holds a Bachelor's degree in Construction Engineering Technologies from the University of Nebraska, Omaha.

Dustin Black joined Dempsey Construction in 2023 and is currently a member of our Field Operations Team.

Dustin Sands joined Dempsey Construction in 2022 as a member of the Fields Operations team. 

Eli Balladares is a Superintendent and has been in the construction industry for 23 years. Eli started a career with Lusardi Construction as a laborer. He set his sights on being a carpenter and signed up for the AGC program, where he graduated as a journeyman carpenter in less than 2 years. Eli soon stepped into the role of leadman, then foreman, and then eventually became Superintendent. As a superintendent, Eli has direct responsibility for job site supervision of subcontractors and their crews, ordering and controlling material and equipment, job scheduling and labor cost controls, coordination and scheduling of city and county agencies, as well as overall coordination and scheduling of all subcontractors. Eli’s interests include spending time with his family, riding motorcycles, and working on cars. He currently resides outside of Temecula with his wife and 2 of their 4 kids.
