Meet Mark. Mark is the Director of Pre-Construction and runs all estimating and pre-construction services at Dempsey Construction. His days include working with his team on building detailed estimates for current and future projects, cost analysis, value-engineering efforts, overseeing all subcontractor bidding, and working side-by-side with project management…and that’s just a fraction of what he does at work each day.
If he were to have the opportunity to choose a theme song to stroll into the office to every morning, it would be ‘Rock and Roll’ by Led Zeppelin, of course. This upbeat and classic song choice speaks to his overall enthusiasm for working with the people of Dempsey.
“My kids and my girlfriend, Christine, are everything to me. They will always come first. However, I have found another group of friends at work that I can truly call family, as well. I am lucky to be surrounded by such an awesome group of people here. I sincerely mean that.”
Mark shared that the commitment he sees in each of his team members throughout each project, makes for a flowing process. And as far as projects go, his favorite to date is the one he’s working on right now. “The Access Youth Academy has a vision to create a cool place for underprivileged San Diego youth to grow and turn their lives around.” He has been working with Bennet Allen and Michael Jurado alongside the rest of the design team.
The satisfaction Mark finds in his work is probably why he’s so good at making the most of his free time, outside of the office. He enjoys road biking, paddle boarding, drumming, long walks & enjoying the great food that Southern California has to offer.
His love for San Diego really runs deep. He has lived in many countries and cities, but he plans to stay here for the warm weather, outdoor lifestyle and relaxed feel everywhere you go.
Mark’s words to live by are truly exemplified by the way he lives his life, “Don’t count the days, make the days count.”
