Dempsey Construction was recently named one of the best places to work by the San Diego Business Journal. This is a great honor, and it’s an accolade made possible by the leaders within our company. For our latest installment of the “People of Dempsey” series, we’d like you to meet superintendent Charlie D’Amato.

Charlie has been an integral part of Dempsey for the last four and a half years. In that time, he’s seen various projects come to fruition, and enjoys watching an architect and client’s vision become a physical reality by the construction team. As he says, “It is a great feeling to watch a pile of dirt and debris become a beautiful building that people will enjoy for years and years.” To date, the project he enjoyed working on most was The Lot in La Jolla, CA. While it came with a few challenges along the way, the final product was stunning!

At Dempsey, our company ethos is centered around the idea “genuine building.” For Charlie, this is about forming lasting relationships with peers and offering guidance/support to various construction teams on job sites. More importantly, he believes it’s important to have a great experience while producing a beautiful product.

In addition to mostly sunny, snowless weather, San Diego is home to some very eclectic architecture, which makes Charlie proud to work in Southern California’s construction industry. When he’s not busy managing a construction team for Dempsey, Charlie enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters. He loves fishing, building things at home and growing passion fruit among other rare fruits. Charlie has a true passion for genuine building…both on and off the clock!
