People of Dempsey: Lynne Shay
In the world of construction, we often focus on the project managers or people out in the field. However, it’s important to also recognize the very essential team that’s behind the scenes. In this installment of ‘People of Dempsey,’ we highlight Lynne Shay from Subcontracts Payable, a role where she, in her own words, “cuts the well-deserved checks for all of our amazing subcontractors.”
As part of Dempsey’s team of Genuine Builders, Lynne knows the importance of only delivering the best of the best services to our clients and partners.
“To me, genuine building means quality building,” said Lynne. “That means no shortcuts, just excellent materials and products to create a build that our entire team we can be proud.”
Her favorite project to date is Fletcher Place, a currently ongoing build where Team Dempsey is constructing a retail and hospitality development on the former El Cajon Police Headquarters property. Engaged early on by the developer, Dempsey was able to provide pre-construction services, including schematic estimating, scheduling and constructability review. The new buildings include a 4-story, 60,000 square-foot hotel and three retail buildings, totaling 14,362 square-feet.
“I actually used to live by that job site,” she said. “It’s really nice to see the land finally being put to good use. I’m excited about the end result.”
To Lynne, family is anyone who plays a large role in her life—whether it’s relatives, animals, co-workers, or friends. In her spare time outside of Dempsey Construction, Lynne loves to go to concerts with her husband, watch football with friends, cuddle with her dog and travel the world.
If she could have a theme song as she walks into the office every day, Lynne would choose “Chop Suey!” by System of a Down.
